Treasures of Yosemite Rally May 2010
On May 10 – 21, 2010 I headed out across Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and tip of Nevada into California. I rode through Death Valley and then north to Yosemite. After the Treasures of Yosemite Rally I went north through the Sierra Nevadas with huge snow drift along the road. I went to Great Basin National Park in Nevada, across Utah, and then Colorado. I went over Vail Pass on May 16th and to my horror rode right into a snowstorm. I couldn’t get off the road because of the deep snow along the sides of the road.
Scariest thing I have ever stupidly gotten myself into. Huge chunks of ice and pavement through the Vail Pass. At a gas stop when I got down to Castle Rock outside Denver I walked around the back of the motorcycle and saw the license plate and tail light were hanging by nothing more than an electrical wire. I had ridden through a snowstorm with no tail light. Thank you to the kind people behind me who didn’t hit me. They were probably to busy wondering why anyone would be stupid enough to be on a motorcycle in snow.
Another experience that convinced me I have the best guardian angels ever.
