Ten Sleep, Buffalo, Big Horn Mountains

First day of a four day trip was a marathon drive through some areas I wanted to see while in Wyoming. I drove out through Dubois and Riverton, through the Wind River Canyon, up to Ten Sleep and Buffalo, up and around the Big Horn Mountains and then down to Cody for the night.

I wanted to see Ten Sleep since it’s the location of the Joe Pickett series of books by C.J. Box.

The canyon east of Ten Sleep was much prettier than the terrain to the west of town.

No pictures of Buffalo, but it was fun to see the building that is the jail in Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire series of books (the books are great, please disregard the television series with the god awful casting) as well as the Busy Bee restaurant. No pictures there, so on the the Big Horn Mountains. I had to head north to Sheridan and then catch 14 to go west through the mountains. It was a very steep climb out of the very weet town of Ranchester.
