Beartooth Pass
I left Cody early to head north to Red Lodge and then take the Beartooth Pass down to Yellowstone. I had to laugh at myself. I am so afraid of sheer drop offs that my hands and legs were shaking, but I did it and the views were very worth it.
O the way there, between the towns Bearcreek and Washoe in Montana, I ran across an old mining town.
I was blown away by how cool Red Lodge, Montana is.
Entering Beartooth Pass
The Montana side had nice pavement, lots of guardrails, and wide roads.
Stopped at the Rock Creek Overlook and was met by the boldest chipmunks I have ever seen. They came right up to my hands and feet despite me telling them I had no food.
The views from the overlook were stunning.
Out of the canyons and into Wyoming
Other than numerous alpine lakes, I thought the Montana portion of the road was far prettier than the Wyoming part.
Stopped for a while waiting for single lane construction area.
